The Brief

"She wanted a water-free vitamin C serum stable at 40°C."

Priya Mehta came to us with a Notion doc and a Canva deck. Her concept: a 10% stabilized vitamin C serum in a fully anhydrous base — no water, no oxidation window, no brown-bottle compromise. The formulation challenge was keeping ascorbyl glucoside bioavailable in a silicone-free carrier at elevated temperatures.

Formulation Ingredients

Ascorbyl Glucoside 10%Squalane (Sugarcane)Caprylic/Capric TriglycerideTocopherol 0.5%Bisabolol

The R&D Solve

Our formulation team ran 11 bench iterations over 3 weeks, stress-testing each variant in our stability chamber at 40°C / 75% RH. We solved the oxidation problem by switching the antioxidant system to a dual tocopherol–bisabolol combination, eliminating the need for chelating agents entirely.

"Iteration 9 hit the viscosity window. We ran the 500 kg pilot batch on a Tuesday. Stability at T+12 weeks: no color shift, no phase separation."— Lead Formulation Chemist, Formula R&D

The Brief

14 SKUs reformulated for EU compliance by Q3.

Lumière Body had outgrown their original co-packer and needed to expand into European retail — but 6 of their 14 SKUs contained preservatives that exceed Annex VI limits. With a confirmed Sephora Europe listing riding on the Q3 deadline, there was no room for a slow reformulation cycle.

Case Study 03 — Private Label Retailer

14 SKUs. 540,000 units. One production cycle.

A national pharmacy chain needed a complete private-label beauty range from scratch — skincare, color, body, and sun care — with clean formulations, EU and FDA compliance, and packaging specs locked to a retail planogram. Brief received January. Pallets shipped March 31.
